There are some couples who remind me exactly why I started my business. They are just sooo happy on their wedding day, making me smile behind my camera as I take their picture. Sara and Ben are exactly that kind of couple. Their mountain wedding at Mountain View Ranch in Pine, Colorado, was the perfect example of focusing on what matters most on your wedding day. The entire day, you could see their love for each other, and they were so present and in the moment. It was so special to capture.
Against the backdrop of the Colorado mountains, Sara and Ben celebrated their love in a way that was uniquely theirs. Their wedding was full of laughter and happy tears. Even when it started to rain during cocktail hour, they were smiling the entire day despite the unexpected downpour. While many couples would be stressed over a few raindrops, they embraced the rain as another element that made their day special.
One of my favorite moments came during their ceremony. As Sara stood at the altar, she had tears as she looked out over the crowd, witnessing this moment. There’s something so moving about watching a bride take in that moment, seeing all the people who have shaped her life gathered in one place to celebrate this new chapter.
The bride and groom portraits were unlike any other bride and groom photos I’ve taken. Sara and Ben have the most playful personalities, and this is shown in their portraits! Sometimes, couples are so serious during their couples portraits, but that was not the case with these two. It was all laughing and smiles in these photo. These are the kind of moments I live for as a photographer. I love it when my couples are so focused on enjoying each other that they forget about the camera. This is when I’m able to lean into my documentary-style approach. The results are always genuine smiles and photos that truly capture who they are together.
After couples portraits, everyone headed inside to dance the night away. Sara absolutely lit up the dance floor during her first dance with both Ben and her father. You could tell from these first two dances that Sara would spend the rest of the night on the dance floor. With the bride and groom partying it up on the dance floor, the rest of the wedding guests joined them as they danced the night away.
The stunning Colorado mountains with the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and the rustic indoor reception space made Mountain View Ranch the perfect wedding venue for Sara and Ben. This is the perfect example of trusting that whatever happens is meant to happen and that not everything will happen according to plan. However, if you just embrace it as part of your day, it’ll be something you can look back on. Thank you, Sara and Ben, for letting me capture this incredible day. Your love story is a reminder to all of us that true joy isn’t about everything being perfect. It’s about finding someone who makes every moment, rain or shine, feel magical.
