I’m so excited to share this colorful wedding at The Grand Lady in Austin, Texas! Emily and Hayden thought of everything for their wedding, from the drink koozies to the outfits they wanted their guests to wear. With that attention to detail, I knew this would be a good wedding.
The Grand Lady was the perfect venue for this colorful wedding day. There’s something about this Austin venue that just makes everything feel more elegant and timeless, even when you add a bunch of color to the wedding design. The combination of classic architecture with all of the pastel florals makes it the perfect option for couples who want to blend the two aesthetics on their wedding day.
I started off their wedding weekend with them at their welcome dinner! They turned their welcome dinner into this fun and casual night at TopGolf, which was such a good idea. Instead of the traditional sit-down dinner, they gave their guests an activity where everyone could just relax and have fun together.
I absolutely love it when couples think outside the box and do what they want to do instead of society’s traditions! If you’re looking for wedding coverage for your whole weekend, from the welcome party or rehearsal dinner all the way to the day after brunch, just let me know and I’ll be there!
For their actual wedding day, when Emily and Hayden told their guests the dress code was Kentucky Derby-inspired, I knew I was going to get some great guest photos! I find that anytime I’m photographing a wedding I am always drawn to the wedding guest that is wearing the bright and colorful or floral dress so that fact that all of the guests were showing up with hats to match their outfits I could not stop myself from talking all of the photos.
If you want your wedding guest photos to match your overall wedding design, give them a wedding outfit guide or inspiration before the wedding. Guests appreciate this so much so they don’t have to stress if they are over or under dressed on your wedding day. Getting to capture everyone’s looks during the ceremony and cocktail hour was so fun, and it led to some great guest photos.
One of the things that made this wedding extra special was how Emily incorporated family heirlooms into her bridal look. A couple of her jewelry pieces were passed down through her family, which added a special element to her bridal look. These are the kinds of details that make me love what I do, when couples find ways to honor their families while still making the day completely their own. There’s something so moving about seeing jewelry that has been passed down being worn on a wedding day.
What I love about weddings at The Grand Lady is that you can transform the space to perfectly match your wedding design, whether it’s a classic black and white look or something more vibrant. This Austin venue has the flexibility to make it happen. The architecture and grounds at The Grand Lady also have the best backdrops for photos, so everywhere you look, it’s a great spot for a quick picture.
Working with this vendor team made this wedding truly special. The fact that The Grand Lady has an on-site florist, Grand Lady Floral, which, when they can use flowers from the garden, is next level. They know this venue like the back of their hand, so you can really trust that not only are you going to get stunning floral arrangements, but they will know exactly how to arrange them in the space.
If you’re a couple who wants to have beautiful spots to get ready in while having a garden ceremony and an indoor reception, this is the venue for you! The modern reception venue on site makes it a no-brainer decision for a Texas wedding that can get hot. There is no need to sacrifice your style. You can still have that mansion-style wedding while having a comfortable place for your guests to gather after the ceremony. The Grand Lady does a great job of allowing you to lean into your creative vision while still maintaining that classic beauty.
The staff at The Grand Lady truly understands how to make couples feel comfortable and supported throughout their entire day. When you’re working with a venue that gets your vision and helps bring it to life, it can really make a difference in how relaxed you can be on your wedding day.
Emily and Hayden’s wedding at The Grand Lady was such a beautiful reminder of why I love photographing couples who aren’t afraid to have fun during their wedding. These are the kinds of weddings where you can feel the love in every single photo.
